Search My Heart

Learning to pursue God as He pursues me — relentlessly.

Search me, God, and know my heart.
Test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.
Psalm 139:23–24

Recently, I’ve realized how void life is when I go through an entire day without recognizing God’s provision.

You see, I will have little moments of anxiety crop up (yes, despite the freedom I have from anxiety, it’s still a process of healing), and in these moments, I will say something like, “Jesus, I need You.”

While this is all well and good, if the only times I acknowledge God are when I need His intervention in my suffering, how am I serving Him?

I’m not. And therein lies the problem.

So, how can I make serving God my go-to action and praising Him my default setting? How can I learn to curb my selfishness and live humbly? How can I share what Jesus did for me in a way that transforms the lives of others for the better?

That’s one of the many reasons I’ve been meditating on Psalm 139:23–24.

“Search me, God, and know my heart. Test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Because God is faithful, I know He will guide me as I transition from college to a career. Because God is faithful, I know He will reveal areas of my life that I need to surrender. Because God is faithful, I know He will bring peace and comfort in times of trouble. And He will do those things for you, too.

So, let’s seek God together with this passage in mind.
